Happy Friday everyone!

20 Jul

It’s been a busy month.  Launched some new apps this month, and saw the release of a few of the apps I worked on at Microsoft.  I feel very accomplished.  🙂  Have quite a few other apps (both mobile and tablet) in the works as well.  Some very exciting stuff!

Apps I’ve designed/developed and/or contributed to in the last 3 years:

1. Microsoft Tag for iPhone

2. Microsoft Tag for Android

3. Microsoft Tag for Windows Phone

4. Fresh Paint for windows 8 Tablet

5.  Bonus Apps for WinPhone

6.  Wi-Fi Calling App for WinPhone

7.  An IP Communications app soon to be released for iPhone

8.  An IP Communications app soon to be released for Android

9.  Same app but for WinPhone

Love designing for the tablets – you can do much richer interactions and really push innovation in new ways.  Metro and the new Windows design paradigms are a blast to create for as well.

Well – would love to hear what you all are working on these days.  What have you accomplished in the last month?

Back again with the living…

21 Mar

Well, my household and I decided that two weeks ago would be a FINE time to come down with the flu from hell. And when i say from Hell i mean this had to have been the work of something evil and twisted. 🙂 But we’re all on the mend, just the occasional cough. Thank goodness…and now that i’m back again into full swing, i feel justified taking a few minutes out of the day to blog. So how have you all been?!

I’ve discovered a new interest.. ok well it’s not so new.. as you all have seen some of my coloring and comic stuff that i’ve posted here and there. I went to my very first comic book store a few days ago… picked up some witchblade comic books, some tomb raider comic books and some others. Research. The more i look at this world the more i’m interested in learning more about it. Some of the artists who do that kind of work.. wow! Amazing art.

My birthday is coming.. and for me, it’s just another year, and at the same time, i’m feeling the need to do something FUN! With having the flu and being pent up inside and then getting bogged down and behind in work, now that i’m caught up i feel the need to get out, enjoy the sunshine, have a little party for myself or something LOL. Everyone keeps asking me for gift ideas.. and honestly i’m stumped. Everything i want is something i would never ask for. Just not in my nature i guess.

Well… for those of you interested.. here’s some of the work i’ve been up to lately 🙂 enjoy.

Watch out.. rant coming…

25 Jan

RANT Ok, as a graphic designer, no.. as a creative professional, we in the industry know that there are MANY people out there who undervalue our profession. It’s something we get used to. But does that mean we stop correcting, we stop saying “Hey, wait a minute, you’re wrong”. By not speaking up and telling somewhere that they’re misinformed (you don’t have to be rude about it) aren’t we being apart of the solution? By keeping our mouths shut we in fact become another peg to the overall problem. I got into a little tiff this morning with a marketer. It made me pretty upset. So many people out there who are looking to hire a designer are doing so for the first time. There’s no published rules or regulations.. so these people are winging it. They have no concept that what we’re trying to run is a real, professional, bill paying business. And that’s ok. They just don’t know yet.. so isn’t it OUR job to guide and TEACH our clients and prospectives we come across? Who else is going to do it if not us? By teaching these people and guiding them, aren’t we then saving ourselves time and effort later down the road? I don’t know.. maybe i’m wrong. This guy I argued with this morning didn’t want to spend the extra time to handle it.. even if it meant an extra click of the mouse. In some ways, I understand… we come across this so often that we finally just start to ignore it. But therein lies the problem… in my opinion.

Would LOVE other people’s thoughts on this!!! Am I out in left field with this one?
